Or how the heat can turn the office into a very nice tropical environment and all you wish for is a pool. a lawn chair, a huge umbrella and some pina-colada. What’s new to say, well not a whole lot. Watched some movies with friends over last weekend, and looking forward to very much getting paid this Friday (
@ monthly pay cycles ).
Was almost going to skip out on lunch/work for a bit and go play some volleyball today, but then kinda decided against it, for now.
And oh yeah, DC hub hit a new all time record of 688 users, maybe we’ll break 700, or maybe my ResNet port will explode first.
Didn’t work as advertised…
So everything’s just about died down after the crazyness of move in week. In fact today I probably had one of the most unproductive days of my entire life. Which is odd because I was actually at work, and not just taking a day off or relaxing on the weekend. Sure I helped out a few students, fixed some ethernet jacks, which Andrew now knows how to fix, *clap clap clap*.
Anyway, of course this situation of helplessnes is compounded by all of the people in charge being absent today and us basically being unable to start much of anything without their OK. We should have a whole meeting tommorow in the morning, not sure if it’ll happen, the boss seems fairly sick and it’s probably best if she stays home. Anyway if it happens maybe we can get some project going.
Speaking a bit about the University of Waterloo hub, and some discussions on it. I for some reason decided to go and look up just how much some of the equipment we use costs. Ready normal people? Ready! $2 USD + shipping for 3 switches of which we use 2 for every “area”. I know it’s wrong and all, but I couldn’t stop laughing, not a happy laugh, more one of those ‘oh well we’re doomed anyway, may as well laugh’ laughs. Oh well, at least we may be getting a new core router in a hopefully near future!

We be hav’in ter balance this rotatin’ calendar with th’ need te be maintainin’ the likeness o’ the Google homepage.
Some horlidays that we no’ been celebratin’ in the past will be rotatin’ into our horliday doodles fer future years.
Please remember ye can be visitin’ any o’ our doodles at http://www.google.com/holidaylogos.html

What more can you really ask for, if only more companies had such lax and fun policies.
I’ve just been informed that because our game servers are so awesome that they’ve now had to be locked down to such a point that they’re now useless for anything other then having a server on it. Actually we can’t even update the servers since the machines no longer have any kind of internet access whatsoever.
Oh well, off to calling Bell and making sure that our order is actually going to happen sometime this week. Since we’ve only been bent over once already.
So he said a few minutes ago, and so begins this saga of a really really pointlessly interesting blog. Grammar be damned, only style matters.
