Bed 2.0

10/10/2006

Most of it is all together, I was going to risk actually sleeping on it today, but am now way too tired to actually drag the mattress here and then get it ontop of the bed. I guess the kegger event for Friday is cancelled, but that’s fine, it’s been replaced with something equally promising. And ZZzzzz… now.

I really shouldn’t be…

9/10/2006

this tired. But for some reason I am. More on this developing story tommorow after I sleep another night in my living room bed. The black half finished metal construction in my room is seriously in need of getting finished. Moment of silence for the turkeys please.

Home for a rest…

6/10/2006

First of all:

RUSS 442 LEC 0.50 Course ID: 008470
Russian Epic Tradition

Apparently I need to take this, because from the name alone it can’t go wrong.

Thanksgiving weekend is almost here, in fact just about 5 hours now until it’s here. My only dissapointments of this week was not knowing that it was Alexander Keiths birthday this week, and all the special activities that would normally be associated with that, Rogers not having a Motorola L7 in stock and I guess that’s about it for dissapointments.

Now moving onto the upsides! I’ve finally got an account on one of our servers at work today, only 2 weeks of asking, and it’s basically too late now since what had to be done is done, but I finally have that account (thanks Greg). Had a fun trip to FutureShop and the mall with Sharon. We were going to take the bus, after Andrew’s skeptical who’s giving you a ride look, except then the TurnKey desk was closed, also didn’t have any bus tickets and also we were in between 2 bus stops when the bus finally went by. It was a pretty good walk though either way. Of note is that FutureShop doesn’t seem to carry any Rogers phones anymore and they also don’t have The Last Unicorn.

To be continued momentarilly…

…like right now!

Yey another discussion with high overlord, Andrew says I’m a bastard, I was having fun : ) I honestly think in some way it is an art form to keep a completely serious face and tone of voice and just totally talk over people, helps with Bell Canada cancellations. By the way, Bell charged the CC, and broke our phone line in the process, so they’re getting a chargeback and already got another fix our phone phone call, this time from the university.

Really looking forward to seeing some friends in London too, haven’t been down there in a while, and only one of them’s taken the time to visit here. Next week seems pretty action packed too, I know I’m going to come back to a whole bunch of msn infected computers, oh well, maybe do some Ruby on Rails while I wait for all the scans to do their thing. In closing, I really feel like some chinese, or something different tonight for some reason, we’ll see what happens when I get home…

Weekend.getNext(Thanksgiving);

2/10/2006

Sharon can put elastics into hair! Now that that’s out of the way, the weekend was good times. Mongolian, Molleys, my place, friends place. The highlights are many and varied, and really depend on who’s view point you take. 9 - thanks Sharon. As I was saying, somewhere between having Joel actually show up and then convincing him to have more then a pop. Between the fun attempt of a walk to the LCBO before the obvious realisation that we are so not making it and the apparent inability of anyone to use bushes we went to my place. Which really brings us to the first sentence of this paragraph, and by the way, Eric, Adam, I know you have pictures and I fully expect those to be deleted or at least kept out of Sharon’s hands forever. We then messed around on the grass outside of REV, turns out we weren’t the only ones doing that as apparently there was a Fight Night in Rev East, silly people. Oh and I almost lost my keys, but whatever Adam went down hard!

Robot Chicken - is a really really weird show with like no plotline and completely random and sometimes amusing and othertimes o.O moments. I just had to mention in since we got to watch a few episodes of it.

We lost Emo, quite literally. He just walked off on his own, turns out he went to Sharon’s but I didn’t have my cell and for some reason no one else called, oh well, lesson learned. Grow taller and walk faster!

Still have yet to see this red wonder chair in a certain house, oh well, maybe next time. But I like my place, it’s now nice and clean. I even started putting my bunk bed together which was until now just taking up a lot of room in my room. I started  (Andrew was just bitching about the improper syntax and form of my topic, I know, I don’t care! :) ) getting it all together, but kinda got stopped since I didn’t have a scredriver to actually tighten any of the screws more so then I could by hand, oh well, try to finish it today.

Some fun news from work, maybe new equipment, Milky has now finally been setup properly and we’ve already broken the total concurrent user count on the server and the total shared amount: 748 users and 22TB of data, not bad. Adopted a pokemon theme and Pikachu and Charzard(-i) are now new file-servers, trade off for people not using BitTorrent, which should hopefully soon be mostly broken anyway - yey and nay at the same time, but it has to get done.

Sharon didn’t get her interview, silly Bomber, but I’m sure she’ll get the job anyway tommorow if they’re that busy today and missing people. Looks like we’re going to try and have a game of volleyball tommorow, too bad some people are busy after work today as it’s a nice day.

Rainy nights, silly girls

Summery

27/09/2006

Or how the heat can turn the office into a very nice tropical environment and all you wish for is a pool. a lawn chair, a huge umbrella and some pina-colada. What’s new to say, well not a whole lot. Watched some movies with friends over last weekend, and looking forward to very much getting paid this Friday ( :( @ monthly pay cycles ).

Was almost going to skip out on lunch/work for a bit and go play some volleyball today, but then kinda decided against it, for now.

And oh yeah, DC hub hit a new all time record of 688 users, maybe we’ll break 700, or maybe my ResNet port will explode first.

On work, after work.

21/09/2006

So everything’s just about died down after the crazyness of move in week. In fact today I probably had one of the most unproductive days of my entire life. Which is odd because I was actually at work, and not just taking a day off or relaxing on the weekend. Sure I helped out a few students, fixed some ethernet jacks, which Andrew now knows how to fix, *clap clap clap*.

Anyway, of course this situation of helplessnes is compounded by all of the people in charge being absent today and us basically being unable to start much of anything without their OK. We should have a whole meeting tommorow in the morning, not sure if it’ll happen, the boss seems fairly sick and it’s probably best if she stays home. Anyway if it happens maybe we can get some project going.

Speaking a bit about the University of Waterloo hub, and some discussions on it. I for some reason decided to go and look up just how much some of the equipment we use costs. Ready normal people? Ready! $2 USD + shipping for 3 switches of which we use 2 for every “area”. I know it’s wrong and all, but I couldn’t stop laughing, not a happy laugh, more one of those ‘oh well we’re doomed anyway, may as well laugh’ laughs. Oh well, at least we may be getting a new core router in a hopefully near future!

Ahoy mate,

Thank’ee fer th’ logo ye be suggestin’. We enjoy celebratin’ horlidays at Google.

As ye may imagine, it be terrible difficult fer us t’ choose which events t’ be celebratin’ on our site. We be hav’in a long list o’ horlidays that we’d be liken’ ter celebrate in th’ future. We be hav’in ter balance this rotatin’ calendar with th’ need te be maintainin’ the likeness o’ the Google homepage.

Some horlidays that we no’ been celebratin’ in the past will be rotatin’ into our horliday doodles fer future years.

Please remember ye can be visitin’ any o’ our doodles at http://www.google.com/holidaylogos.html

Arrrrrrr,

The Google Team

What more can you really ask for, if only more companies had such lax and fun policies.
